Ergonomic Mug Inspired by Traditional Yonomi Cups
In traditional Japanese culture, Yunomi (Yonomi) cups are designed without handles, encouraging a more intimate, tactile experience with the beverage. However, direct contact with hot surfaces can sometimes cause discomfort.
This project reimagines the classic Yunomi form by integrating a minimal, ergonomic handle. The handle is subtle and does not disrupt the clean geometry of the cup, while providing additional support and comfort during use.

The design focuses on preserving the essence of the traditional handle-less aesthetic, while offering functional support through a small, horizontal stub-like handle.
The ergonomic handle allows the user to grip securely without fully wrapping their hand around a hot surface.
Its shape aligns naturally with the fingers, providing tactile guidance and pressure distribution, reducing strain during use.
The size and placement ensure that the cup remains compact and balanced, true to the spirit of a Yunomi.
