about.
These mugs explore the idea of organic, flowing forms that resemble the natural movement of water. The shapes were intentionally kept soft, irregular, and alive — celebrating the fluidity and imperfections of handcrafting.
The color palette is inspired by the vibrant tones of Jaipur Blue Pottery, but the form is entirely original, based on a natural, intuitive feel rather than any traditional style.
.
Process.
1) Hand-Forming:
Created using the pinching method to achieve an organic, water-like form with naturally wavy surfaces.
2) Mould-Making:
Plaster moulds made for the mug body and handle to replicate the hand-built texture for small batch production.
3) Slip Casting:
Used bone china slip for consistent forms; handles were cast separately and carefully attached to maintain flow.
4) Glazing:
Glazed in blue, green, and yellow hues inspired by Jaipur Blue Pottery, then coated with a clear glossy glaze.
5) Firing:
Final high-temperature firing resulted in lightweight, durable, and semi-translucent mugs.
results.
The mugs exhibit an organic, water-like flow in their form, offering a refreshing break from rigid, symmetrical designs. Each mug’s surface texture captures the spontaneity of hand-building, giving a soft, tactile feel. The colorful marbled glazing makes every piece unique while maintaining a visual link to traditional Indian craft through color. Lightweight yet strong, the mugs are suited for both functional use and artistic display.
